The skin profile. We speak of non-severe or average permanent acne when we have oily skin and pimples almost all the time (even if their number varies), generally on the lower part of the face. Most often, it is linked to a hormonal imbalance (an unsuitable pill, a progesterone IUD or ovarian cysts). Sometimes it is induced by drugs:cortisone or certain antidepressants.
The treatment. Two cases:1/ if you do not wish to consult a dermatologist, you use topical treatments (creams with retinoids, fruit acids, benzoyl peroxide or even antibiotics); 2/ if the discomfort is significant, go see your dermatologist. In addition to local treatments, he can prescribe antibiotics, based on erythromycin, tetracycline or clindamycin, and change the pill.
The skincare routine. On the hygiene side, it depends on whether the skin is treated or not. If so, it tends to be dry, so we use cleansers (soap, dermatological bar or foaming gel) for dry skin; otherwise, we stay on products suitable for oily skin. And for hydration? Once again, if the epidermis feels tight, formulas for sensitive or dry skin are preferred, which allow the skin to better tolerate medication. If we do not treat it with antibiotics, we hydrate it if we feel the need, favoring light galenics (gel or serum) and suitable for oily skin. Please note:some antibiotic treatments are photosensitizing (cyclins in particular), so apply SPF 50 daily to avoid stains, and avoid prolonged exposure.
