The first question we asked ourselves when we had the device in our hands was how can it straighten the hair when it is twisted? We were rather skeptical about this aspect. So neither one nor two, we plugged in the iron, set the temperature to 190°C (the device has 5 temperature levels, from 150°C to 230°C), and we put our locks in the device . And the result is conclusive since indeed, the hair comes out smooth and not wavy as we feared. The device is quite effective since it only took us 20 minutes to straighten all our hair (mid-length). We then wanted to test the curling side of the Curl &Straight Confidence (the ultimate test in our opinion, because who has never struggled to do both sides of the head?!). Again, after setting the temperature to 190°C (the straightener heats up very quickly, we barely wait 30 seconds), we place the top of a wick in the straightener, which we will then turn towards the skull to then descend slowly (the normal motion with a straightener per se). The first strand wasn't as curled as we expected, but that's because we went too fast. By spending a little longer, the curls have a nice wavy wavy effect, exactly what we like (neither too tight nor too light). Curling the entire head took us about 30 minutes and we did much better than with a regular curling iron. Yippee! What we found practical is that the device has a special tip (at the end of the plates) that allows you to hold it well without getting burned. The temperature selection is very easy, since after turning on the device, you just have to turn the pink part, near the wire, to increase or decrease it (it is displayed on a screen). And once the number stops flashing, the iron is hot enough to use. And something really practical for the heads in the air, the straightener stops by itself after 60 minutes.
We really liked this straightener / curler which really allows you to have two devices in one. We found the curling gesture easier than with a classic styler.
