What are pearls for? Initially used for their aesthetic appearance (notably by Guerlain in the Terracotta Perles complexion product, in 1993), pearls are now found in cutting-edge skincare formulas. The principle ? Isolate hydrophilic and lipophilic active ingredients (often fragile) in a membrane, to preserve their effectiveness until application. This also makes it possible to increase the dosage of active ingredients and create a more sensory texture. "With Chanel's Hydra Beauty Micro Serum, we're going even further," explains Sébastien Bardon, founder of Capsum, the leading company in the pearl market. The formula uses bubble technology, which is even more effective than pearl technology. Research is now focused on integrating pearls and marbles into all treatments (creams, scrubs, etc.). The future of cosmetics? We bet you do!
Who is it for ? All skin types can use it, provided you choose the appropriate formula (moisturizing, anti-aging, etc.).
How to use them?
Serums are used like classic formulas:on clean skin, massage to make it penetrate, and, if necessary, follow with a moisturizer. The bottles are calibrated to deliver the right dose for an application. The beads break at the pressure of the pump, so the texture is ready to be applied.
In the specific case of the Abeille Royale cure by Guerlain, which is not in a pump bottle (preserving the integrity of the formula), the pearls + cream mixture is made before the first use. It must therefore be used in the following month, otherwise the active ingredients lose their effectiveness.
