From Saturday 13 October, almost a thousand pieces of jewelry from all over the world can be seen in the Africa Museum. Hundreds of jewelery from the museum collection, supplemented with contemporary jewelery by leading designers, guarantee plenty of viewing pleasure, amazement and admiration. Makers, manufacturing techniques and the special stories of wearers of this jewelry provide a special view on the use of jewelry worldwide.
The exhibition is an ode to the jewelery makers. Age-old techniques tell a story about culture, history and identity. Based on the most beautiful jewelery from the collection of Africa Museum, Museum of Ethnology, Tropenmuseum and Wereldmuseum; from refined gold jewelery from Asia and South America, jewelery made from the most diverse natural materials from Oceania and silver jewelery from North America and the Middle East to beadwork from Africa, these stories are told.
In addition to jewelery from its own collection, which spans many centuries, the exhibition also shows contemporary jewelery by designers from all over the world. You can also get started yourself and take home your own piece of jewelry.
The exhibition will take place from October 13, 2018 to June 2, 2019 in Afrika Museum, Berg en Dal.
