From 9 June 2017, the first retrospective of the fashion duo 'Puck &Hans' can be seen in the Amsterdam Museum. In the exhibition, an image of the time is created on the basis of their designs. 'Puck &Hans' enjoyed great fame in the 70s, 80s and 90s in Amsterdam and far beyond. Their creations are characterized by a mix of exclusivity, quality and playfulness. The exhibition is realized in close collaboration with the designers themselves. A documentary about the duo, produced by Smarthouse Films, will be released around the opening of the exhibition. The exhibition is on view until September 3, 2017.
Their clientele included Loes Luca, Princess Irene and Marina Abramovic, but lesser-known people were also happy to buy a unique 'Puck &Hans'. In addition to clothing from the collection of the Amsterdam Museum, the exhibition also includes previously unseen pieces by private individuals.
The run-up to the exhibition is the common thread in the documentary. Everything is recorded; from collecting the garments from known and unknown customers, to putting together the exhibition and finally the festive opening. During this course from concept to product, gradually an image is formed of what Puck &Hans have meant for Dutch and Amsterdam fashion. In addition, the documentary highlights the people they have inspired and touched with their designs, such as designers Viktor &Rolf and Jean Paul Gaultier. The documentary also gives a unique look into the life of Puck &Hans, then and now. Who are they? Why are they so loved and how do they live now? The shooting has already started, the last day of shooting is the opening of the exhibition.
