From April 21, 2018, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht will present Jan Taminiau, a major exhibition about the work of Jan Taminiau. Dozens of masterpieces show the richness and depth of Taminiau's work. Here you will be taken into the world of research, memories, inspiration, experiment and craftsmanship of one of the most important and leading fashion designers in the Netherlands.
Jan Taminiau (1975 Goirle) is known for his use of traditional artisan crafts &production techniques, unique original materials and fabric treatments, in addition to his love for aesthetics. Partly because of this, he received the Grand Seigneur in 2014, the most important Dutch fashion award. Taminiau combines the classical and feminine with the conceptual and experimental. As a result, shortly after he founded his label JANTAMINIAU in 2004, he became popular with clients all over the world.
With this monumental exhibition, the Centraal Museum wants to introduce visitors to - and see from different eyes - the work of this master of couture. In addition to the garments, the design and thinking process are central. Sources of inspiration in fashion, photography, design and art, working methods and end result are connected. How is a couture piece created? What are Taminiau's sources of inspiration and how are they expressed in his creations?
The exhibition Jan Taminiau can be visited from April 21 to August 26, 2018 in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
