The exhibition 'Viktor&Rolf:Fashion Artists 25 Years', on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Amsterdam luxury fashion house Viktor&Rolf, shows some of the most impressive and innovative works by the Dutch design duo Viktor&Rolf in the Kunsthal Rotterdam. For 25 years, the symbiotic collaboration between Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren has resulted in uncompromising beauty and exceptional collections. The results of this collaboration cannot be traced back to what everyone has contributed.
The exhibition explores the elements that make the designers unique in today's fashion world and showcases their radical conception of wearable art. In their illustrious career, Viktor&Rolf constantly push the boundaries between art and fashion and their designs contrast between romanticism and rebellion, exuberance and control, classicism and conceptualism. The approximately sixty works from Viktor&Rolf's haute couture collections provide insight into their idiosyncratic and conceptual approach, in which they do not shy away from criticizing the fashion industry, of which they themselves are a part. Their creations are of a stunning beauty and technical perfection in form and material – in terms of lines, volumes, bows, collars and ruffles.
The exhibition 'Viktor&Rolf:Fashion Artists 25 Years' will take place from 27 May to 30 September 2018 in the Kunsthal Rotterdam.
