Esmir swears off shampoo. "After three weeks I look like a scarecrow." Curious what her hair looks like after eight weeks?
Banish shampoo bottles from the bathroom for good:more and more people are doing it. After all, you can also wash your hair with water or other natural resources. Journalist Esmir dives into the world of no poo.
Esmir: 'A good pair of heels and a top haircut, that's all I need to feel sexy. Fortunately, I am blessed with a full head of hair that I have little work on. Although… the older I get, the more I have to do about it.
Conditioner is now a must. I used to wash it every other day. I reduced that to twice a week, because I noticed that my hair smelled wonderful after washing, but was also
more slack and lifeless.
Following a new beauty trend — the no shampoo movement — you're better off swearing off standard shampoos and conditioners. You wash your hair only with water. Hot water. Or with one hundred percent natural shampoo without sulfates, silicones and parabens. There appear to be many alternatives to shampoo, such as eggs, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and even applesauce. They would be the recipe for clean and healthy locks.
It triggers my curiosity, but also raises many questions. Doesn't my hair get very greasy? Will my luscious locks run past my head like a wet dog? And oh yes, I don't need dreadlocks either.'
The road to a life without shampoo is not without struggle, but the end result is impressive. Are you curious how Esmir managed this? You can read her story in the November issue of Santé.
