If your hair is good, is a frequently heard phrase. And rightly so, because what woman doesn't want perfect, shiny and healthy hair? But sometimes the hair doesn't look so pretty anymore. This is mainly due to outside influences. And hair that doesn't look so healthy affects one's self-image. Fortunately, most causes of hair damage and frizz can be prevented by changing a few things. Here are seven ways to damage your hair and solutions.
1. Coloring too frequently
This makes the hair vulnerable to chemical damage.
Solution:Use hair color without chemicals and use color shampoo and conditioner to make the color last longer.
2. Damage from altering texture and chemical straightening
Changing the texture of the hair through perming or chemical smoothing can cause hair to break and reshape into a new position.
The solution:Ask the hairdresser about the gentlest formula for these treatments. Also use styling tools with a lower temperature, if not every day.
3. Over-Wash The body produces natural oils that protect the hair. Washing the hair too often removes this protective layer, leaving the hair dry, dull and brittle. Weak areas break and leave split ends. The solution:Add a day between washes. Use a dry shampoo between washes.
4 . Heat Styling Damage Curlers and straighteners, hot rollers, and blow dryers break down the hair to reshape it. Over time, the hair becomes damaged and loses its shape.
The solution:Use heat tools less often, lower the temperature and protect the hair with a special product.
5 . Too much tension
Healthy hair stretches and then returns to its original position. Weak hair breaks with exertion and does not return to its original position.
The solution:Switch to wider hair elastics and softer headbands. Detangle with a wide-toothed comb. Take a break from extensions.
6. Being too rough with wet hair Roughly combing or brushing wet hair, or tying it up in a ponytail or towel can cause damage. When the hair dries, it shrinks to its original length. The hair strand can break in weakened areas, causing frizz and breakage.
The solution:Detangle hair in the shower with a wide-toothed comb. Work from the bottom, untangling a few inches at a time. Use a microfiber hair towel on dry hair. Avoid rubbing; dab instead.
7. Environmental stressors
Sun damage causes color to change. Swimming opens the epidermis layer, making hair brittle and rough. Wind dries and can cause tangles and breakage. Moisture lifts the epidermis layer and encourages frizz and tangles. Fine hair flattens and textured hair expands.
The solution:Wear a hat or scarf to protect hair from sun and wind. Wet hair and apply a leave-in conditioner before swimming. Wear a cap if you swim regularly. Treat the hair with moisturizing masks and leave-in conditioners.
