Brighten up your outfit with a pair of Happy Socks

Whether you're going to a party or the office, brighten up your outfit with a pair of Happy Socks. Why choose boring black, blue or gray socks when you can also wear cheerful socks? Today everything about Happy Socks and in the giveaway I'm also giving away two pairs.

History of the sock

For us, socks are the most natural thing in the world and they simply belong with your outfit, except in the summer. Still, it's nice to dive into history and see where and when the sock made its appearance.

For this we have to go very far back in history, as the sock has been part of people's outfit for a long time. The sock is one of the first items of clothing that people started making for themselves. Not surprising, because a sock ensures warm feet and if you have warm feet, you are generally much less cold.

The word sock is derived from the Latin word 'soccus', which stands for small Greek shoe. The first socks were made from animal skins. Around the 8th century BC, socks made from braided animal hair were worn. Ideal, because these kept the feet warm. A few centuries later, the Romans were already making sophisticated socks from woven fabrics, which increased the wearing comfort. Nice detail:it was the Romans who wore socks in sandals.

Until the 17th century, socks were actually always knitted. This remained so until the first hand knitting machine came on the market. In the 18th century, these machines were used by the first hosiery factories. Suddenly the sock became a social status symbol! White socks represented a high social class and gave the wearer great prestige. The white silk stocking worn under the knee shorts indicated that you didn't have to work and that was reflected in the fact that your socks remained white.

This fashion image changed at the end of the 18th century:suddenly men's socks had to be striped. The white stocking had become obsolete, but the striped stocking was also not in fashion for long. The pants got longer and the socks worn underneath didn't matter anymore. So then all the socks just turned black, nobody saw the socks or cared.

Introducing the colored socks

Fortunately, all trends come to an end and so did the black sock. The turning point came at the beginning of the 21st century when suddenly colored socks took the fashion world by storm. Men were allowed to wear colored socks. Colored, striped, with dots, it doesn't matter. It is important that your socks have color and can be seen. The socks are for every man:whether you are a teacher, lawyer or working as a surgeon in a hospital. And say it yourself:such a cheerful pair of socks looks great with both jeans and trousers!

Cheer up your outfit with a pair of Happy Socks

You can now find colored socks everywhere, but if you really want quality, it is best to choose Happy Socks. These cheerful socks are also the perfect gift for your husband, boyfriend, father, uncle, brother and all the other men in your life. Not only are the socks cheerfully coloured, that also applies to the gift packaging in which they are offered.

The Happy Sock brand comes from Sweden, where it saw the light of day in 2008. Two Swedish friends wanted to spread more happiness with their vision by turning an everyday item into a fun and colorful design. And so the idea of Happy Socks was born. When you see the socks, you immediately understand the vision of these two friends. They are cheerfully colored socks with the most diverse motifs and designs.

Happy Socks are now available in more than 70 countries worldwide. Only the best quality cotton is used for production. This ensures that the socks last much longer. The socks also have a reinforced heel and toe, which prevents wear and tear. A special production process also ensures that the socks do not shrink in the wash.
