Women are increasingly encouraged to accept the natural beauty of their bodies. Many bloggers promote self-acceptance on social networks by posting unashamedly images of their shapes and their body marks usually considered unsightly. The inspirational message was picked up in the spring of 2017 by famed rapper Kendrick Lamar who featured curvaceous women with stretch marks in his Humble music video. (viewed over 360 million times!). And it is to this very specific characteristic that the collage specialist Sara Shakeel also wanted to draw attention. The artist has indeed decided to celebrate stretch marks which, let us remember, are the result of skin that has lost its elasticity – and all women, regardless of morphology, are concerned! Through a series of photos taken with editing software, the young woman filled in the famous streaks with sparkling backgrounds like golden sequins, the galaxy or even diamonds. Feminine at will!
After missing her last year of study to become a dentist, Sara Shakeel learned on her own how to use Photoshop to fight "her sadness and her depression", as she explains to Cosmo US. The idea of transforming the imperfections of the female body into works of art did not take long to germinate:"I remember when I started creating glittering stretch marks, I was very anxious at the idea of publish them […] I am an artist residing in Pakistan, talking about stretch marks and turning them into art is not something you often hear here ". But the game was worth it, since her work initially allowed her to free her from her own complexes and she hopes that the same will be true for other women ("Each image heals a part of me , and I hope it heals a part of you too “, can we read in the description of his Instagram page). "I have stretch marks," she said, adding that sudden weight loss left her with these marks on her body that she later wanted to fill in "with something pretty." Bet raised!
