When we talk about perspiration, it is clear that we are not all equal:some have very profuse perspiration, while others barely know, even during an effort. On the smell side, it's the same:for some, perspiration is almost odorless, while for others... we don't draw you a picture! In question ? Bacteria naturally present in the armpit, because sweat alone is odorless. Thus, we thank the deodorants and other antiperspirants that save us the day. But American researchers have just made a most astonishing discovery:the sweating of others could be the solution to our bad smell problem!
To reach this conclusion, the researchers carried out a test on twins, one of them with a strong body odor and the other without (we told you that it was unfair!). Specifically, they took the bacteria from the sweat odor of the non-strong-smelling twin and placed them in the armpit of the other twin (this is called a bacteria transplant). Results ? No smell, like magic! The team in charge of the test checked the effect over more than a year and on several sets of twins. They are now working on a "universal" version of the bacteria, which would reduce bad odors in everyone. Yes, because the idea of coating yourself with someone else's sweat, well...
