Fleshy, fine, luscious... Our lips all have their little particularities. Is there a perfect mouth? This is the question asked by a team of researchers from the University of California in a study published in the journal JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery . To do this, they showed 400 participants photos of the lips of young women, aged 18 to 25, before asking them to rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. The researchers then showed the volunteers pictures on which the upper and lower lips had been modified, so that they determined their "ideal" size.
Result:participants preferred lips that were about 50% larger than average. According to their tastes, the lower lip also had to be twice as thick as the upper lip. For those who have trouble imagining what this so-called perfect mouth looks like, the researchers give two very concrete examples:the lips of Miranda Kerr and those of Alessandra Ambrosio.
Whatever the study says, let's not forget one thing:beauty is subjective and perfection does not exist!
