Bikers or boots generally display a large volume at the ankle. Wide and thick, these boots refine, by contrast, thighs and calves… provided they are well worn! If you opt for trousers with your boots, choose them slim or skinny, especially not straight:the width of the leg creates a surplus of material in the boots and thickens the calves instead of refining them. The same way, hem your pants that are too long! The trailers inside the boots add, again, an unsightly volume, while too long pants cause unseemly folds.
Let your ankles breathe! Some models of boots are adapted to your morphology, others are not, such is the harsh reality of boots. With very thin ankles, leave aside models that are too wide to avoid the matchstick effect. Conversely, forget tight models at the ankle if your calves are generous, otherwise they will appear bulkier. The secret ? Choose boots with laces or with adjustable straps, to adjust the opening of the boot yourself, and therefore its width, to that of your ankles. In any case, make sure you can slip two fingers into the boots so that they don't strangle the ankle.
If the boots associated with a short skirt refine the legs, this is not the case with a knee-length skirt! The intermediate lengths, from the knee to the ankle, create a horizontal that cuts the leg. Adding a pair of boots to them, with or without heels, amounts to cutting the leg a second time at the ankle, with the result of visually flattening the silhouette. To avoid missteps, choose mid-thigh or above the knee lengths preferably. Very long skirts and dresses can also be suitable, even if they hide the boots… provided you do not step on them. As for cropped trousers, corsairs or mid-length leggings, is it necessary to specify that they are prohibited from any silhouette in successful boots?
It is not so much a question of the color of the boots as of the associated colors! The contrast between the color of your boots and the color of your legs, dressed or not, can again create too strong a cut. A cut that packs down and thickens, rather than lengthening... Unless you have long gazelle legs, it is better to wear boots with opaque tights or pants, preferably tone on tone or in monochrome:black and black, navy and black, black and brown, etc. Do you like to wear your boots with bare legs? Reduce the contrast by opting for models in camel, fawn, cognac, beige, nude...
