The most common error – and the most dreaded – the down jacket that is too inflated, too padded or badly chosen ensures a very unbecoming effect. In short, beware of the bibendum effect! Choose a down jacket length suited to your morphology, and keep a close eye on the padding:if you have shapes, prefer fine padding, rather than the famous plump horizontal bands. Also, beware of too padded short down jackets, which increase the volume at the top and unbalance the silhouette. Clumped appearance guaranteed!
Was she pretty on the rack? Unfortunately, in nine out of ten cases, the fluo down jacket is rarely worn once. If you assume it, there is no question of depriving yourself of it, your look is all about you. If you prefer to hide some small complexes, on the other hand, beware:generally short and padded, the fluorescent down jacket draws attention to the upper body... and often hurts the eyes. Reserve it for skiing, seasoned fashionistas or sporty silhouettes. And if you really decide to test it, wear it only on black, white, gray, navy, khaki monochrome silhouettes... as neutral as possible!
The padding is not the only danger of the down jacket, the length is also. Prefer intermediate lengths, which are easier to wear than extreme ones, especially long down jackets! In any case, do not go lower than mid-calves, unless you have your fashion stripes. The quilting associated with the length very rarely works, and more often than not, thickens silhouettes, even slender ones, like a fleece dressing gown.
If there are indeed silver, gold and other metallic or even sequined down jackets, rare are the pieces that are more difficult to master. If you plan to rub it, be aware that the metallic tends to thicken, and is often considered vulgar. Complicated, therefore, on a padded coat… Still convinced? Opt for a sleeveless puffer jacket and shift it over ripped jeans, or save it for the end of the year celebrations! A rule to keep in mind also for classic colors, more advantageous in matte than in gloss.
Some models of down jackets have a ball shape, tightened at mid-thigh by their cut or even by a ribbing. Again, everyone has their own choice! Remember, however, that the ball shape on a down jacket amounts to combining two fashion pieces that are difficult to wear:one tends to widen the buttocks, the other to thicken the silhouette. A result that is rarely advantageous, even on a slender and slender figure.
