In our group of friends, most of them got married at a later time, and some still have a wedding due. Getting married is no longer necessary, of course, but a wedding is a nice occasion for a party. Planning a wedding is a full-time job, but you do get something in return…
For me that was actually the reason to get married, to throw a nice party. And of course because I was asked, that too 😉 . However, the need for a wedding was not so great for me myself. Frank did want to get married, especially because he liked the fact that I would bear the same name (that was 'contracted' when the proposal was made). Then it became the van de Pas family 😛 . Easy in itself of course, maybe also for Luc, because he was already 2 when we got married.
That is probably why the need was not so great for me… there is nothing that binds you together more than a child. Anyway. Asked on Mother's Day, the wedding in August and already 9 years ago this year. Time flies when you're having fun.
After that, many more weddings followed in our circle of friends and that resulted in wedding stress for me every time… 'what do I wear?'. You would like to come to a wedding nicely dressed without bumping the bride, because that is not done! Don't just put on a hat, for example, only if you know it's desired. If you are not sure… then first ask the bridal couple or the master of ceremonies.
However, my own wardrobe does not guarantee chic clothes, I even have very little of that. While I do like it, but when buying something I often think about how useful the item of clothing is and whether I will wear it more often. My normal everyday clothes are easy and cool and sometimes a bit hippie. I don't walk high heels through the house and certainly not in a suit 😉 . After 5 years of being an independent entrepreneur, my wardrobe has thinned out quite a bit in terms of chic clothing, while I used to have a number of suits for work. I still have those, by the way, but they are not really suitable for a wedding.
That means shopping every time at a wedding for something nice that is chic enough but that I think I can wear afterwards (which doesn't always happen, by the way). Because hey, I'm not going to wear something to a wedding that I already wore the time before. You do? I think it's a woman's own thing to think that everyone will see and know that you're wearing the same thing as last time. In the end, it turns out that nobody knows that anymore, but it's in your head. Am I right or not? In addition, I don't often wear a dress myself, except to weddings and funerals, where I think a dress actually fits very well (yes and with very summery weather, too 😉 ).
The first wedding for this year has already announced itself and I am lucky, because a few weeks ago I ran into the Comma brand at an event. do you know them? Fantastic name, that alone makes you curious, but besides that they also have very nice clothes in all kinds of styles. All styles have a touch of chic in addition to the casual, bohemian or office look.
The party look they expect for this spring is beautifully dressed, but not so dressed that you can no longer wear it afterwards. I think the red and white dress from the collection is absolutely beautiful and also practical. With a denim jacket you create a completely different look for another moment, don't you?
Completely in the red would be nothing to me. Nice, but too striking I think. I also think the cream dress below is beautiful… but I also find this one very exciting 😉 . I have a huge 'ohhhh' and 'aaaahhh' feeling with many of these kinds of dresses, but I often feel so watched and therefore uncomfortable. Do you recognize that? I think the belt really completes the dress.
I wish I could shake off that uneasy feeling. That I just have the guts to do it and give a shit about that feeling… how are you? I'm actually curious about what you do with a wedding. What are you wearing? Would you be able to dive into your closet and pick out something that is suitable, or do you not worry about it at all and just wear whatever else you wear?
Or maybe you're just like me? Anyway, go into a store or webshop for something new and lots of 'ohhhhs' and 'aaaahhhs' 😉 .
