Down to earth Eye palette, Moonrise color from The Body Shop

Down to Earth, I just love that statement. It suits me! And when I see this Down to Earth Eye Palette from The Body Shop, I immediately think… “that suits me”! I love the gray tones in this palette and the combination with the soft pink feels very sweet.

Down to Earth Eye Palette from The Body Shop

The Body Shop's Down to Earth Eye Palette comes in several variations. I tested the Moonrise variant myself (also such a beautiful name). Since I have brown eyes myself, I am super happy with these shades. I like gray to create a darker look.

The colors in my palette are:

  • Oudrose
  • Matte gray
  • Sparkling silver
  • Shimmer green

You can see that the colors in the Down to Earth Eye Palette are inspired by natural tones. Not only in the Moonrise variant, but also in the other 5 variants out there (there is even a palette with 8 colors instead of the 4 colors that are in the others). As you can see my palette contains 3 shimmer variants and 1 matte. I'm always a fan of shimmer, even if that might not be handy (you can read that shimmer further enlarges the wrinkles), but I can't resist!

Speaking of wrinkles… you really shouldn't expect an eye-selfie from me 😉 . Maybe after my eyelid correction that I already half announced in my blog about drooping eyelids, but not before! I can no longer compete with all those beautiful beauty bloggers who are in their twenties 😛 .

The looks you can create with a palette

The palette is specially designed to create different looks. Not only this one, but the other variants as well. In the case of the Moonrise palette, you can get a soft look create with the old pink color and a little bit of anthracite, an almond look with the 3 shades of gray and a smoky look (my favorite) with all 4 colors.

And for the beginners… the looks are explained on the back! A child can still handle this (at least mine would like it 😉 ).

Ingredients of the Down to Earth Eye Palette

The eyeshadow is enriched with maroela oil, babassu oil and sesame oil and is completely vegan! I am not going to list a full list of ingredients here, but I would like to explain these oils.

Maroela oil

The Maroela oil (also written as marula oil) that the Body Shop uses comes from Namibia, where a cooperative has been started that is completely run by women. They remove the seeds from the maroela fruit from which the oil is then pressed. Maroela oil has a soothing and moisturizing effect and contains a high concentration of antioxidants that are good for your skin. You can read more about this at Beautylab.

In addition, the story goes that this fruit makes for drunken wildlife. Whether it's true or not… see for yourself 😉

Babassu oil

Babassu oil comes from Brazil and this oil is also extracted from the core of nuts that fall from the tree, in this case the Babassu palm. Babassu oil nourishes the skin but does not leave a greasy film. In addition to the fact that you increasingly come across this oil as an ingredient in personal care products, it can also be used well for cooking.

Sesame oil

Personally, I only know sesame oil from the kitchen, but apparently it can also be used for your skin 😉 . It contains a lot of omega 6 fatty acids which are good for your body. Inside and out

How do you like the Body Shop Down to Earth eye palette?

The pigmentation of the Down to Earth Eye Palette is fine. I can easily work with it and have therefore provided my eyes with a layer of color in no time. Fortunately, because every busy working mother knows that you only have 5 minutes to yourself in the morning. If you succeeded!

The only downside is that it doesn't come with an applicator. It is a super nice sleek box that I would like to take with me on the road. The mirror is fantastic and also quite large. Ideal for on the go. You only have to bring an applicator with you… that is less convenient.

You can find the Down to Earth variants at the body shop.
