The No Poo , which is an abbreviation of "no shampoo" is a hair detox which, as its name suggests, consists of no longer using shampoo. Unthinkable? Not that much, especially if we know that the results obtained are shine, volume, beauty, strength, suppleness. Yes, all without shampoo. How is it possible ? This method, which comes straight from the United States, consists of breaking a well-known vicious circle of oily hair:the more we wash our hair to eliminate sebum, the more we stimulate its production and the more oily hair we have. In any case, with shampoos that contain chemicals that tend to attack the scalp. If they seem shiny and healthy after washing, you should know that in reality, they are weakened because the sebum forms a natural protective barrier. Banning shampoos is a solution that may seem drastic, but it seems effective. But don't panic, we still wash our hair... but otherwise. If girls with "dry" to "normal" hair can manage to wash their heads only with water, for girls with greasy hair (and who are moreover the most likely to start the method No Poo ), it's not so obvious.
What options? You can bet on a very effective mixture:water with baking soda or cider vinegar. We promise, the hair will be clean and not greasy! Except that these products, even healthier, can also attack the scalp if they are used too often. A trick that comes to us from the East is softer and has also proven itself:we mix Rhassoul with water, with a little argan oil and rose water. If we know oily hair well or sometimes we don't have time to wash our heads, dry shampoo has already saved us. Is not it ? For the No Poo method , it can also be used. But exit the supermarket, of course. We opt for powdered green clay or cornstarch, which are much more natural and much more effective.
We agree, this technique can be scary, so to start we can opt for a less radical alternative:the Low Poo . What is changing? We wash our hair in a more classic way, but (much) less often with just any product. We choose mild shampoos without sulfates, without parabens and without silicones or we opt for a "cleansing conditioner", a formula developed by more and more brands which is similar to the conditioner with very few washing agents. Of course, the goal is to use these products as little as possible in order to wash your hair only once… a month! Yes yes, it is possible, but weaning is not easy (and besides if we go from once every day to once a week, it's already great)! We think about our future dream hair to motivate ourselves!
