Do you know the "Januhairy"? Nope ? This challenge, launched by a British student, invites women to stop waxing.
This is an Instagram post that has not gone unnoticed. On January 2, Laura Jackson, a 21-year-old British student, published a photograph of herself, one arm raised, revealing her unshaved armpit. She took advantage of this powerful shot to launch the challenge "Januhairy" , the contraction of the English words "january" and "hairy" , which means "January" and "hairy" , in French. What is this new challenge? It pushes women not to wax or shave, no matter what part of the body.
She explains:"There are aspects that really opened my eyes to the taboo of female hair. After several weeks I got used to my hair and started to like my natural hair. ... I felt liberated. I started to have more confidence in myself [...] When I started to let grow my hair , my mom asked me, 'Are you doing this because you're lazy or because you're trying to prove something?' But really, why should we be called lazy if we don't want to shave? And why do we have to justify ourselves?" .
"Getting to know yourself better"
Its objective is simple:"The idea is not to launch a campaign of hatred against those who do not understand that having body hair is completely normal, but rather a project to learn how to better know yourself and others" . And the least we can say is that it works. On Instagram, many women have dared to post photos of themselves without hair removal.
