If there is one gesture of beauty that we all do (yes, even men who don't care about their appearance!), it's to wash their hair. We wet the hair, apply the shampoo, lather and massage the hair, rinse and voila! Easier, we haven't found. Except that… According to the British hairdresser Ian Florey (of The Lion and the Fox salon), we are wrong in the simple gesture of shampoo. Damn!
Ian explained to The Independent that it is essential to wash your hair twice. This is also an instruction that can be read on some bottles of shampoo, but we do not necessarily see the point (except to finish the product more quickly!). The explanation? The job of the first shampoo is to remove dirt (namely pollution, but also dry shampoo or any styling products that we have applied); it is therefore necessary to reapply the product to take advantage of its properties (nutrition, repair, volume, etc.). The hairstylist recommends using sulfate-free formulas and adds that the first shampoo may lather little, while the second will really lather.
Another mistake:the application of the conditioner. The hairstylist explains that the product should only be applied from the mid-lengths towards the tips, and certainly not at the roots (otherwise, hello flat hair!). It is important to wring the hair well before application, otherwise you risk diluting the product. And above all, once the conditioner is applied, we remember to comb the hair to remove the knots and distribute the product. However, we take it easy because wet hair is very fragile. Finally, in terms of quantity, whether for shampoo or conditioner, no need to empty the bottle:a dab of shampoo and a dab of conditioner are more than enough.
Good to know:Ian Florey explains that the results on the hair are not instantaneous. It takes several weeks of double washing + good application of the conditioner to see results. But he assures it:the hair will be stronger, shinier and healthier. Well, well, all that's left is to test!
