From 17 to 19 September, Amsterdam Fashion Week presents an intimate but diverse program of young talent and established names. Amsterdam Fashion Week will be opened outside Amsterdam for the first time. In collaboration with the internationally successful jacket and bag label KASSL, the opening evening will take place in Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar.
PROGRAMME
Thursday 17 September
On Thursday Elzinga will start with a performance in combination with a photo exhibition and lingerie brand Love Stories will provide a 'Wake-up service'. Sustainable couture designer Ronald van der Kemp is on the program with an online auction with his 29 couture face masks in collaboration with international auction house Christie's Amsterdam. All profits go to The Refugee Company. In the evening, the KASSL guerrilla exhibition will take place in the various exhibition spaces of Museum Voorlinden.
Friday 18 September
On Friday, the talent program of Duran Lantink will start in collaboration with Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet. The participants of the 'Visions of' program show their work in an individual way in the former V&D building at 219 Kalverstraat of IEF Capital. Across the IJ in the Eye Film Museum, the Belgian couture designer NATAN shows his latest SS21 collection. Friday will be concluded in the Stedelijk Museum by designer Bodil Ouédraogo with a presentation in projection that is entirely devoted to 'the art of dressing up' and a 'live installation' by Ronald van der Kemp in hotel De L'Europe.
Saturday September 19
On Saturday AFW returns to the location on the Kalverstraat with three young labels. Cruèl, the brand of the Amsterdam designer William Ampofo, presents the SS21 collection by means of a show. The label Reconstruct presses the REset button and takes us on a journey into their new reality and the new collection of Mulas Hybrid Haus is presented in the form of a fashion film, made in collaboration with visual artist Mila van der Linden. In addition, Scotch &Soda has selected 10 young talents to redesign a hoodie from the Fall/Winter' 20 collection.
LIGHTING and Dylan Westerweel
It goes without saying that AFW, in collaboration with the Meester Koetsier Foundation, also offers a place for Lichting, where the 14 best fashion alumni of 2020 present themselves to an international jury of experts. Together with the show of Lichting 2019 winner Dylan Westerweel, this part will take place on October 23 in the Hermitage.
PODCASTS
The year 2020 offers more than ever before the opportunity for a good conversation. That is why AFW is launching a first series of podcasts during the upcoming edition consisting of conversations with various designers and entrepreneurs about topics such as sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship and creation during Covid-19. The podcasts can be listened to via amsterdamfashionweek.nl.
COVID-19
The culture and fashion industry is being hit hard in these times. AFW wants to offer and support young talents, designers and brands a stage especially now. AFW organizes the shows and performances at all locations within the rules set by the RIVM and the specific rules of the locations and provides live streams, so that everyone can participate digitally.
