So I ripped my pants this week. And not only me! Hahaha, we've been wearing our work clothes so many times over the past few months that we've both ripped our pants. And no… that has nothing to do with extra corona kilos or something. It's just wear and tear on the current pants. The latter is not so strange, because the jeans I used to work with are just old jeans that I normally can't wear anymore with good decency. A lovely fitting stretch jeans that is faded on the knees and on my butt. But I hadn't thought that it was already so faded that I would tear it out. Doesn't matter, because I really just want some trendy ladies' work clothes for all those jobs that are yet to come.
Anyway, my current 'work' jeans are broken. Now I've been thinking about ironing a patch on it, but I think the tear is just too big. In addition, I am a bit tired of always working in old stuff that is not sufficient. Because what is the function of work clothes? You have to be well protected and in case of odd jobs and renovations, some extra pockets are also handy.
We currently do so much DIY that I actually walk around in my DIY clothes all weekend. And when I'm not working on construction, I'm busy with the animals or in the garden. So now still in old clothes full of holes and tears. In the meantime, for example, I have to run an errand or take Lotte away and then I don't change completely. That means that I regularly walk in my clothes full of holes and my scuffed shoes. Doesn't look natural.
So I'm looking for trendy work clothes so that I can still look a bit ladylike when I'm away from home. What other requirements must work clothing meet? For me, the clothes -besides looking a bit nice- also have to be comfortable. And I have to be able to easily put something in my pocket.
Recently, for example, I wrote about trousers made of travel fabric. Very nice, but I don't think that's a success for DIY, then I really prefer to wear jeans. Decent work trousers that look tough and are practical while doing odd jobs. The big advantage of jeans compared to trousers made of a thinner fabric is that jeans can take a beating. For example, the ladies workwear can not only be hip, but also practical to use and it does not wear out too quickly.
Since I no longer have old jeans in my closet that can serve as replacement work trousers, I started googling. I soon came across the high-quality work clothes from Engelbert Strauss and there I saw a pair of jeans that I could wear as work clothes. I actually had no idea that you can also order trendy ladies jeans as work clothes, I had those gray pants in my head that Frank also has, with all those extra pockets.
Now I'm just undecided whether I'll order one or two. One is not, they sometimes say. And you will undoubtedly understand that the work clothes are often washed. Very annoying when the pants are just in the wash, of course. So only two pieces. The jeans with the pockets on the thigh seem useful to me, but I find them less cool. I actually prefer jeans that look very ordinary. As if you're not renovating, doing jobs and decorating 😉 . But I also found a copy of that, and in two colors. So I'm done.
Only Frank has to shop for cool work trousers, because he too was completely torn from his crotch during a squatting action! I just think he'll go for another gray variant… but I'm not complaining, better than reflective workwear 😉 .
What do you wear when you're working? Old clothes of yours? Or do you also have trendy ladies work clothes in your closet?
