To get away from the world for a while, Famke and Floor descend from Prague to the basement of the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam. That's because Akasha, an Asian spa, built from natural stone and with exactly that pamper look that they need after all kinds of stress and bustle.

Calm in the city
Everything is right about the Akasha spa; the space appears to be furnished completely according to Chinese feng shui principles. Even the changing rooms feel nice. Once we have settled our weary bodies on the treatment table, the party will soon begin. The girl from the massage is big and strong - and you can feel it. She has developed her own style, she tells us, and otherwise she keeps her mouth shut. With shea butter, she expertly removes every knot from our backs in 75 minutes.
Excessive Zen
After this soothing massage we are seated on two comfortable couches with a cup of jasmine tea and bowls of dried mango, walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds. Legs up, good magazine there. Then we wander around in space for a bit - take a dip in the pool, let off some steam in the hammam and check out the sauna. When we come back above the ground after many hours, we really have to swallow. We are still in the middle of the city and life goes on as usual. But we are fully charged and overly zen as we maneuver through busy traffic.
