QUESTION: I have very fine, curly hair that is always frizzy at the ends, even if it has just been cut off quite a bit. Anti-frizz products don't help, so I often use a flat iron these days. That prevents the frizz, but now I notice that my hair is becoming very thin at the ends. What can I do best?
ANSWER: “As you know, there are special care products for frizzy hair, but there is a lot of difference in quality. I usually recommend a matched shampoo, hair mask, and balm to hold the ends together for a nice curl.
Using the flat iron should not be a problem. Only:here too there is a lot of difference in quality. A good flat iron (an example is the CHI tongs, which are used by many professional hairdressers) maintains the moisture balance and is also safe for colored hair. It is important to apply a protective product before styling, such as Silk Therapy † This creates a layer around the hair and forms a heat shield against the hair dryer or curling or flat iron.
If you use the flat iron together with Silk Therapy you can clearly see how the quality of the hair improves over time. This is because the heat from the tongs forces the product between the scales of the hair. The result is a beautiful shine, and hair without frizz.”
