5 reasons to prefer organic cosmetics

The charter imposed when obtaining an organic label guarantees consumers the quality , the natural composition of a product, and a limited impact on the environment during its manufacture. Although there are several Organic Labels, each with a specific quality charter, here are the 5 main axes that differentiate organic cosmetics from conventional cosmetics:

1- The use of a maximum of ingredients of natural origin

The composition of an organic labeled cosmetic must have at least 95% natural ingredients or of natural origin, 95% of plant ingredients from organic farming and 10% of all ingredients must be from organic farming. This ensures that care is as natural as possible.

2- The ban on animal testing

The testing of raw materials and finished products is prohibited on animals. Only certain products that do not involve the torture of animals and whose manufacturing processes are correct for the ecological balance can be used, such as beeswax or honey in particular.

3- The ban on using petrochemical products

Certified organic products are guaranteed without the presence of petrochemical derivatives. Either elements as dangerous as they are ineffective. No presence of petrochemicals or synthetics. This includes:mineral oils, perfumes, synthetic dyes, parabens, silicones and polymers, preservatives and ethoxylated products.

4- Prohibition on the use of products potentially dangerous to health or highly polluting

To guarantee healthy products that respect the health of the consumer and the environment, certain elements have been prohibited. In the lists of compounds prohibited by the quality charters of organic labels, we find in particular:

  • PEGs (PolyEthylene Glycol)
  • Silicones and petrochemical derivatives (paraffin, petroleum jelly)
  • Synthetic dyes and synthetic hair dyes
  • Preservatives, fragrances and synthetic sun filters (parabens, phenoxyethanol, etc.)
  • GMOs
  • Animal raw materials (animal fat, collagen, placenta, etc.)
  • Irradiated raw materials
  • Acrylic polymers
  • Formaldehyde
  • Aluminum derivatives
  • Ethoxylates
  • Components that may have an impact on the environment

5- Environmentally friendly packaging

At all stages of the manufacture of organic cosmetics, respect for the environment is a priority with regard in particular to the obtaining of raw materials, the transformation processes, their biodegradability and the recycling of packaging and as well as the all the waste resulting from their manufacture.

It will be understood, the organic label is a guarantee of naturalness and quality towards oneself and the environment.
