To adopt a streetwear look, there are a few rules to follow and a few pieces to choose from. Here are our tips for a successful streetwear look.
When you hear “streetwear look,” it’s easy to imagine baggy silhouettes, ripped T-shirts, faded hoodies and super-sophisticated sneakers. But for a successful street look, you actually have to moderate these components of the look. A streetwear silhouette should be laid back, it should include quality pieces and it should play with layering.
The classic pieces of streetwear
For a classic streetwear look, opt for example for thick cotton jogging in a sober color (black, navy blue or gray), or for not too wide cargo pants. We complete with a black or white T-shirt on which we can add a waterproof jacket with press studs or a long and/or oversized hoodie.
This hoodie can be any color; it's time to let go. Red, orange and pink hoodies are also very trendy in the world of streetwear.
Layering and neutral colors
Over the hoodie, weather permitting, you can add a bomber jacket or a long, dark coat to accentuate the layering effect and color contrast. Here again, we prefer neutral shades because the layering effect will already bring out the look of the lot.
As for shoes, sneakers are obviously essential. And again it is better to stay sober with black, white or gray sneakers. If you really want colorful sneakers, wear them only when the rest of your outfit is neutral (without bright colors or overly flashy prints).
Finally, you can complete your look with key streetwear style accessories:a beanie or a cap (to match a large element of your outfit - your pants or your jacket for example), and a quality bag (a backpack or a banana bag worn on the chest over the shoulder).
