Tie &dye is not a new technique in hairdressing:it was extremely popular a few years ago, its principle being to create a more or less marked gradient between the roots and the lengths. But it's no secret that the trend is inspired by a method of bleaching textiles that was particularly prevalent in the 1970s, when the hippie movement was in full swing. It was the psychedelic circular shapes that adorned T-shirts at the time that inspired hairstylist Kelsey Pebler, who works in St. Paul, in the US state of Minnesota. She reproduced the tie &dye effect in two colorful looks that quickly caught the eye on social networks.
The first, pastel, brings together shades of water green, old rose, purple and lavender blue that the professional obtained by using dyes from Lime Crime's "Unicorn Hair" range. The rendering is remarkable in large part thanks to the white marks – obtained using adhesive tape, as you can see below! – which give an impression of reflections as we find them on the surface of the water of a swimming pool for example (or maybe it is we who are simply dreaming very strongly of holidays?!). Building on this success on social networks, Kelsey Pebler repeated the experience with this time more flashy colors that include mauve, neon pink and yellow. Here, for once, we really find the patterns of vintage T-shirts (which many of us also wore as children, let's face it). Not bad for a festival, right? Well ok, without the permanent aspect… In any case, we salute the work full of pep from the artist!
