In terms of connected objects, we thought we had seen everything, or almost. But it must be recognized that one area had so far escaped geeks:hair. But that was before. The Kérastase hair brand has just announced the launch of the first connected hairbrush, designed in partnership with Withings (known for its various connected objects). Previewed at the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas, it has already received the international prize for innovation. But concretely, what does she do?
Knowing the condition of the hair and scalp is the job of the Kérastase Hair Coach. Thus, the risks of weakening the fiber are minimized and you can adapt your care routine and the use of styling devices according to the hair analysis. More precisely, the brush is equipped with a microphone (yes!) which “listens” to the sound of the brushing and can then determine the problems of the fiber. The device also records the strength of the brushing (and can therefore tell us if we are going too hard) and the gestures we make, while adapting its diagnosis according to whether we comb our hair wet or dry. All this information is then transmitted to an app which deciphers it (while taking into account factors such as humidity, UV, temperature, etc.) and then provides personalized advice. Interesting, right?
The Kérastase Hair Coach is announced for mid-2017, in Kérastase partner salons, for a price "below $200", i.e. less than €190. So, gadget or revolution? You decide!
