The promise. A place to completely disconnect, which benefits from Green Globe and European Ecolabel certificates. The hotel and spa operate with total respect for the environment with an entirely organic and locavore gourmet restaurant (all ingredients are from local organic farming); all this for ultra affordable prices. And the icing on the cake:for every night spent at La Grée des Landes, a tree is planted by the Yves Rocher Foundation as part of the "Plant for the Planet" operation.
The test. Just the place, La Gacilly, already offers a break from city life. In the middle of the forest, you can see the hotel all in wood, with huge bay windows. You enter via the second floor and then go down to access the bedrooms, located on another side of the hill. All the rooms are oriented facing the moors and especially the sun, which naturally heats the rooms in winter (in addition to the heating of the boiler and the recycled air from the kitchen stoves). The landscape is magnificent, there is no wifi in the rooms to avoid the waves... Total disconnection successful!
We then go to the spa, a sublime swimming pool for swimming, a second for relaxing, both facing large bay windows. We are warm inside, looking outward. A hammam is also available. As for the treatments, some are exclusive, others exist on the care cards of the Yves Rocher institutes. In any case, the practitioners are discreet but expert, everything is very clean, we spend a moment of intense relaxation...
Among the activities offered by the Eco-Hotel Spa Yves Rocher, we tested the "Yogi Walkie", a walk in the forest, guided by a yoga teacher. She also gives tips for continuing to practice at home, an intense emotional moment.
Finally, the gourmet restaurant of chef Gilles Le Gallès "Les Jardins Sauvages" is worth the detour! Not only is the cuisine healthy, but it is also delicious. The staff is adorable without being too present, we trust him in the choice of dishes and wines.
Verdict. Far from surfing on the "healthy" fashion, opened in 2009, La Grée des Landes is a place whose values are shared by all those who do it. We feel that the staff is passionate and committed to offering customers a truly different and totally ethical stay, in harmony with nature. The labels are not there just for marketing, it is a real desire to respect the environment. Beyond that, the Eco-Hotel Spa does not deserve on the services it offers and we would have stayed there much longer!
