We all stand in front of the wardrobe sometimes feeling like what to wear or why can't I find certain items unless you are blessed with a space big enough to keep clothes for winter, summer and everything in between. Time to organize your wardrobe! The best way to keep your closet organized is to get rid of clothes. You can read here how to do that.
How to organize your closet
Pick up an item of clothing one by one and ask yourself if it fits into one of the following categories. If so, get rid of those clothes so you can treat the outfits you love with the care they deserve.
Clothes that make you feel uncomfortable
If you always pull on your pants and your shirt, they won't fit properly. If you're doing normal daily activities, such as going up and down stairs, lifting children or bending over, and the clothes make you feel uncomfortable, you can get rid of it.
Clothes that are too tight
Sometimes you keep too tight-fitting clothes with high expectations that you can wear them again after you lose weight. But why? A dress or pants that don't fit you and leave it in your closet takes up space! That space can be used for clothes that make you feel good and look good!
Clothes that are too big
Okay, so you've lost weight. Crazy! It's the perfect time to get rid of those oversized clothes. Don't keep them in your closet with the excuse that you may need them in the future when you arrive again. Put them away and wear clothes that suit your new figure.
Clothes with tags still attached
Have you ever bought clothes on sale just because they were cheap, but you never wore them? Or have you shopped without trying on, and never exchanged the clothes? This happens more often. Although it's a shame, you can always give it away or sell it.
Clothes that don't have a “match”
Do you have a piece of clothing in your closet that you would like to wear, but can't because you can't find a matching piece? If so, keep a list of items you need to complete an outfit. If it's not worth the wait, it's time to get rid of it and let someone else find the match.
Clothes that are no longer trendy
We've all bought trendy clothes that just won't stand the test of time. Of course, if you still love and wear these items, go ahead! But when you're over them and know you won't wear them anymore, it's time to let them go. The same goes for items that may not have always been trendy, but that you loved a few years ago and that seem dated today.
Clothes that are stained or smell strange
There are stains that cannot be completely removed - intensive ink stains, bleach and dried paint, for example - so it is best to dispose of these clothes. Also, certain materials can retain certain odors longer than others, no matter how often you wash them. If an item has stains that you can't remove, or the item smells bad even after you've washed it, it's time to replace it.
Clothes that are worn
Sometimes you don't realize a piece of clothing is worn out, or hold on to it because you love it so much. Analyze the garments you wear most often and determine if they have lost their shape. If so, throw them away.
Clothes you don't wear and will never wear
You know, those items that you try on at home in front of the mirror, but never wear when you're actually getting dressed! Chances are you'll never wear them, so why are you still leaving them hanging? It is much better to use the space in your closet for things that you will wear regularly.
Clothes that are stretched or damaged beyond repair
Wearing clothes that are stretched or damaged beyond repair is a surefire way to not look fancy. If your pants have rips, your sweaters have stretched necklines, your skirt has a big hole, or your bras and underwear are completely shapeless, it's time to get new ones.
Clothes for special events that you never wear
Do you have an old bridesmaid dress in your closet? Or those items you bought for a fancy dress party? It can seem weird to buy an outfit, wear it once, and throw it away right away. But that's often the best you can do!
