It has been six months since I had my overhanging eyelids corrected by means of an upper eyelid correction. I was so nervous guys, unimaginable. I don't think there's ever been anything I was so nervous about before this surgery on my drooping lids. Not even my first kiss although that comes close 😉 .

Shortly after the upper eyelid correction, I already wrote a blog about the progress of my eyelid correction with before and after photos , just to give a good picture of the operation. Not only with photos, because you can find them more on the internet, but with the complete story. The story from A-Z.
Why?
Because I couldn't find it very extensive myself. Yes, there is enough information about the clinics that perform an upper eyelid correction for drooping eyelids, but I wanted to read experiences from others. If I could have read more experience stories, my nerves might have been less. In that blog I describe everything I encountered myself. Do you have droopy eyelids or bags under your eyes and do you have doubts about the operation yourself? Then I advise you to read that blog that is linked to above. Grab a cup of coffee or tea as it is quite extensive.
To see the difference from before and after, all you have to do is look at the photos above. By the way, I was on my way to Kliniek Veldhoven in the car for the operation, so I had no make-up on there. By the way, the make-up that I have on in the photo after the upper eyelid correction… you wouldn't even see it in photo 1 because it would completely disappear under my upper eyelids.
I am now half a year further. Gee, time flies. Right after my report about the surgery on my drooping eyelids, I received so many sweet reactions, heartwarming. Especially because I found it quite exciting to put everything on the internet like this. They're just not my best photos. I also received many emails with questions. From people who consider it themselves but are not yet ready to make the decision. I know of a number of them that they have also undergone surgery for their drooping eyelids.
One of them is my brother! He is 14 years older than me, and for me it was the incentive to get rid of my drooping eyelids.
The idea that they would overhang as far as he did… that gave me a little creep. Now he didn't suffer from that psychologically, but physically (actually the opposite of me). His eyes were really just further closed. Incidentally, he underwent the operation in the hospital.
There are several places where you can go for your upper eyelid correction. I myself underwent my eyelid correction in Kliniek Veldhoven, and I am really very satisfied with it. For me this was only a half hour drive, so nice and close. If you don't live in Brabant, there are probably other clinics where you can also go. Let yourself be advised!
My brother had the upper eyelid correction done in the hospital. Since surgery in a clinic is not always covered by your insurance, this could be an option. My surgery was not covered by insurance anyway, so I could 'choose'.
I followed my brother completely through his operation and was frankly amazed at the 'smooth' way in which he was spoken to and briefed there. If I had a list full of things I had to comply with before the operation and things I had to take into account after the operation… he didn't really know anything. Completely surprised, I passed on 'my' rules to him. I remember that during my upper eyelid correction I was disappointed that I was not allowed to wear my lenses and not wear make-up for 3 weeks… now I'm happy about it afterwards. Better safe than sorry, isn't it?
A friend of mine had her eyelid correction done at the doctor. Now I have quite a high hat from my doctor, but have my drooping eyelids corrected there? no way! Although the girlfriend is satisfied with the result, so it's not said that they can't do it of course. I just feel better with a specialist.
At my last check-up, the surgeon was very satisfied - and so was I, of course, but I was already after two weeks 😛 ! However, I have seen in recent months that there was still further improvement. Great.
For example, after a single bad night with little sleep, or a few wines the night before, I noticed in the morning that my eyelids were slightly thicker. Moisture. That is a clear feature of the fact that the cure is still in progress. After a few hours that disappeared again.
You can't see anything of the scars anymore, just fantastic. I saw a little bit of red in my left eye for the first few months, but that too has completely disappeared. It's great that they can fix it so well. Now I have applied well with scar cream of course, but still.
I still wear sunglasses when I'm out in the sun. I would of course prefer not to run the risk of getting burned by the sun after all.
I'm so glad I made this decision. Even though it was exciting, I have not regretted it for a second. Well… just for a moment, when I looked in the mirror after the first night, haha. When I look back at that photo now, I'm amazed that everything turned out okay.
But when I see the difference between my drooping eyelids before the surgery and my eyes after the upper eyelid surgery, I can't help but be very satisfied. I have my eyes back! How do you feel about plastic surgery?
Do you suffer from overhanging eyelids and have you ever considered surgery? If so… what's stopping you?
