Pigmentation spots, many women find it annoying as soon as they show up. Six out of ten women say they suffer from these spots. Yet almost half (40%) of women aged 25-35 do not know where these spots come from. Also, only 30% are familiar with skin care against pigment spots, while many have the desire to reduce or prevent them (40%). This and more is apparent from Nivea's research by DirectResearch for the introduction of the new products within the Nivea Cellular Luminous630 Anti-Spot range, a complete line that combats pigmentation spots and dark circles under the eyes.
In addition to being physically visible, the spots can also have an emotional impact on women. For example, more than half (51%) of Dutch women who suffer from pigmentation spots feel less attractive because of it.
The older, the wiser? That kite does not hold up when it comes to pigment spots. It is striking that the higher the age, the less knowledge women have about pigment spots. A striking result, because the chance of pigmentation spots increases as you get older. For example, three quarters (76%) of 25 to 35 year olds know that if you burn at a young age, you have an increased risk of blotchy skin later on. Of the 56 to 65-year-olds, 60 percent know this. In addition, 72 percent of 56 to 65 year olds wrongly believe that pigmentation on the hands cannot be prevented, versus 36 percent of 25 to 35 year olds. A shame, because there is certainly something that can be done about those spots on the hands.
Our skin naturally produces melanin, which ensures that we get our natural color. Factors such as age, sun exposure, hormonal changes, skin inflammation, but also genetic predisposition can cause melanin to become out of balance. This causes melanin to accumulate and appear as spots on the skin. All skin types can have to deal with pigmentation spots, because there are about the same number of pigment cells in every skin. The Nivea Cellular Luminous630® range offers help:it reduces the intensity of blemishes.
