Crafts are a great way to escape for a few moments, empty your mind to leave room only for your creativity... So, in this article, we share with you a tutorial to make a bohemian feather in 12 steps! A nice mix between your bohemian summer mood and the warm and cocooning spirit that accompanies the fall season...
Extremely simple to make, all you need is a pair of scissors, a spool of yarn in the color of your choice and... a little patience!
Step 1
Take a spool of thread of the color and thickness of your choice, as well as a pair of scissors.
Step 2
Cut two pieces of yarn of equal size.
The size of your threads should be twice the length of the feather you want to make. For example, the feather in our tutorial is about 20cm in length, so we cut 2 pieces of yarn about 40cm each.
Step 3
Fold each of your wires in the middle, and superimpose them on top of each other.
We will refer to this assembly as the "spinal column" of the feather in the following steps.
Step 4
Then cut two small pieces of yarn. Their size should be a little more than 1/4 the size of your large threads cut in step 2. The total size of our large threads being 40cm, so we cut two small threads of about 10 -15cm.
Step 5
Fold one of the small wires (A) and fold it in the middle.
Drag it under “the spine”
Step 6
Fold the second small wire (B) also in the middle
Step 7
Slide both ends of A into the loop of B. In the same way, slide both ends of B into the loop of A.
Step 8
Gently grasp between your thumb and forefinger the ends of A and B, and pull outwards to create a knot.
Step 9
Then cut as many small pieces of yarn as you want fringes on your feather. Of course, this number must be even!
Step 10
Repeat steps 5-8 as often as needed to create fringes all the way down the "spine" of your feather.
Step 11
Each wire is made up of smaller wires that are twisted together.
Step 12 consists in "untwisting" each of the threads making up the fringes in order to create a more airy effect for the final rendering of your feather.
Step 12
TADAAAAA….
This step consists of admiring your masterpiece, and being proud of yourself;)
