What exactly is dandruff? It is a desquamation of the scalp due to a bacterium naturally present on the surface of the skull, malassezia furfur. In some, it proliferates in excess and, in contact with sebum, creates inflammation. We speak of simple dandruff for dry dandruff (which falls off) or oily dandruff (which remains "stuck" to the scalp). If there is redness, itching and/or large scales, sometimes located at the edge of the scalp, it is a severe dandruff condition. Namely:stress and cold amplify the phenomenon.
How to eliminate them? The benchmark active ingredient is pyrithione zinc, which is antibacterial and antifungal. It is present in almost all anti-dandruff formulas (shampoos and lotions) and very effective in the case of a simple dandruff condition. For each wash, we use a treating shampoo + a lotion. And we continue to use them every 3-4 shampoos, even when things are better. In the case of a severe dandruff condition, it is good to consult a dermatologist who can prescribe topical corticosteroids in ointment or cream. And we avoid coloring with ammonia, too aggressive shampoos,
the styling with alcohol and the hair dryer (or else, it is used on the cold position).
