Every year, Black Friday is an opportunity for Lush to mark the occasion with a unique product available in limited quantities. In 2016, the brand launched a bath bomb called Error 404 to raise funds for digital rights campaigns. This year, the brand returns to one of its fundamentals, animals, by partnering with the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) which protects orangutans and the rainforest in Sumatra.
Orangutan soap is formulated with extra-virgin coconut oil from Nias, an island off Sumatra. Her perfume ? Patchouli and orange. And obviously, its shape takes that of the big monkey. Available at a price of €9.50 from November 24, 2017, it will only be published in 14,600 copies, which corresponds to the estimated number of wild orangutans living in Sumatra. The species is indeed threatened with extinction, largely due to the deforestation of which the island is a victim. All soap sales (less VAT) will be donated to the SOS association and its local partner, the Orangutan Information Center (OIC), whose mission is to restore the virgin forest on part of the island. .
If it's for a good cause, we won't deprive ourselves...
