What's this ? Calluses, corns and calluses are thickenings of the skin, due to friction with the shoe (too tight or not adapted to the shape of the foot) and / or posture problems. We talk about corn on the toes, callus on the pad and callus on the rest of the foot (especially on the heel).
Treatment:if it is painful, we do not try to remove them alone. We go to the podiatrist-podiatrist (immediate relief guaranteed). If they come back regularly, it may be interesting to have insoles made (by a podiatrist or a posturologist).
What's this ? On the skin (usually between the toes) or under the nail, it signals the presence of a fungus. It appears with heat and perspiration. Result:the epidermis cracks, itches and ends up flaking off and/or the nail peels off, turns yellow and the furrow may swell.
Treatment:in both cases, it is done over the long term. For a mycosis of the foot:3 weeks by applying an anti-fungal powder daily to the entire surface; for nail fungus:6 months to 1 year (until it grows back completely) by applying a specific varnish every day (in pharmacies). And if the mycosis is stubborn, you can also take an oral antifungal treatment. Above all, we do not wait to act.
What's this ? It is a bump that appears on the side of the foot, in the extension of the big toe. It is caused by a misalignment of the bones of the toe.
Treatment:if it is the very beginning, you can put a toe tutor (at night for example) to prevent the situation from getting worse. As soon as it hurts and it becomes difficult to put on shoes, we consult a foot specialist. The only way out:surgery.
What's this ? An outgrowth of the skin that sinks into the dermis (it's maaaal!). It originates from a virus and develops more easily in a waterlogged epidermis (thanks to the swimming pool!).
Treatment:it can be burned at home with salicylic acid products or left to the podiatrist. The wart disappears in 3 to 4 weeks, provided you apply the product daily. The dermatologist uses cryotherapy, a slightly more painful but more effective treatment because it removes the wart and destroys the virus. The wart generally disappears in 3 weeks, but it is sometimes necessary to do several sessions (spaced 2 or 3 weeks apart).
Thanks to Claude Huevas, podiatrist-podiatrist.
