The swimsuit is to summer what the avocado is to the avocado toast:essential. But finding the rare pearl, the swimsuit in which you feel good, which gives you a pretty silhouette and which is also pretty, is sometimes a feat. The Well + Good website called on a pro in the field, Mali Sananikone Gaw, designer and co-founder of the Via Eden swimwear brand, to list the mistakes that often lead to disappointment.
This is a mistake that we often make for lack of time:shopping alone. We often find it simpler and we don't want to bother a friend to give us her opinion. Yes, but looking for a swimsuit alone, we are almost sure to try the same models as usual and not really see what they look like on us. We therefore ask Julie to accompany us (by the way, we suggest that she also look for her summer swimsuit!) and to choose models for us, that we try (yes, yes!), while Julie takes us in picture. That way, we're sure to see what the jersey looks like on us.
It is well known:the sizes vary according to the brands. And it's even worse for swimwear! So we do not hesitate to try a size above if our usual size seems too small (no one will know anything about it). Anyway, we won't wear a jersey that's too small so...
Does the idea of exposing your pretty buttocks at the beach put you off? We understand, we are not necessarily super comfortable either. However, according to Mali Sananikone Gaw, a swimsuit that's a bit sexy around the buttocks (we didn't say a thong!) will always be more flattering than a wide, full-coverage swimsuit. What if we are really not comfortable? We then put on a plain bottom with a flashy color or better, a bottom with a band that emphasizes the waist (visually, it gives the impression of having smaller buttocks).
By dint of looking for the trendy swimsuit (did you know that the one-piece was coming back in force?) and that suits us well, we sometimes forget an ultra-important criterion:the support of the chest. Well yes, it would not occur to us to go out without a bra, why would it be different for a swimsuit? When choosing your jersey, we therefore test the support, the comfort and above all, if we can move with it. Well yes, we wouldn't want to do without beach volleyball because we can't jump!
Happy shopping!
