The trench can do it all, and adapts perfectly to all types of shoes. Ultra-flat ballet flats or vertiginous stilettos, success depends more on how they match your outfit than on the trench itself! However, the basic rule applies to the trench coat as for the others:if you want to gain height or refine the silhouette, bet on shoes with heels.
As we have said, to lengthen, nothing beats heels. As a rule of thumb, if you've chosen a mid-thigh length trench, watch out for low shoes that cut into the leg! With pants, choose tone-on-tone shoes to avoid demarcation; with a skirt, opt for pumps or, conversely, high boots. Another option? Put on opaque leggings or tights in the same color as your low shoes, to create a sense of continuity. In the case of a long trench, on the other hand, choose your shoes according to your outfit!
To walk in town, go with a short skirt or slim pants, a work outfit like an evening outfit, think ankle boots! These low shoes are called low boots when they graze the inner malleolus of the foot, ankle boots when they reach the ankle… and go perfectly with the trench coat. Dare to wear leopard-print ankle boots with a beige trench coat and rolled jeans, roam the city with black leather ankle boots over matching skinny jeans… before slipping opaque tights into heeled ankle boots to go with your evening trench coat!
Glamorous seductive trench or romantic ingenue trench? Adapt your shoes to the chosen look! If you've opted for a belted red trench coat, fitted dress and nylon stocking effect tights, there's only one option:pumps. Adjust the height and width of the heels according to your experience, to walk with ease. If you are not comfortable on heels, consider wedge shoes! Are you decidedly more ingenuous than a femme fatale, and a fan of the dish? Bet on the ballerinas, quite simply.
Impossible to get more trendy than sneakers. So much the better, the trench coat adores sneakers, from the fluorescent running model to the famous low-top leather tennis shoes! If you opt for the sporty effect of sneakers, on the other hand, remember to compensate with some feminine details, however discreet they may be. Roll up jeans that are too wide to reveal the ankle, choose fitted pants or a romantic top...unless you wear your trench coat and trainers with a T-shirt and a skirt!
