A serum, a cream, mousse and as a finishing touch some hairspray. Can it hurt to use a lot of styling products?
Reverse effect
Using too many styling products can eventually make your hair lose its shine and natural volume. In the case of styling products:Less is more.
Silky hair or in need of a wash?
'A little bit of wax is fine,' says hairstylist Marriët Gakes. “But if you use blobs, your hair will look dirty and greasy. Two drops of serum in the ends and lengths of your hair makes it silky smooth, with more it looks like your hair needs to be washed.'
More care for fine hair
Fine hair needs the most care. When applying products, you have to stay ten centimeters from the scalp to prevent aggravation. Someone with thick, coarse hair, on the other hand, can have more products.
Opposite effect
Antonio Corral Calero, artistic director at MoroccanOil adds:'Too much mousse and gel can dry out your hair and make your hair heavier and harder to style. For that reason, you should avoid products with a lot of alcohol in them, which will dry out your hair. When you use too many products to moisturize the hair, you get the opposite effect:it just makes your hair more frizzy.'
