Skin cancer is becoming more common and, unfortunately, the number of patients is still rising. That is why the Melanoma Foundation has started a campaign to raise awareness of various myths surrounding safe tanning and to encourage people to regularly check their skin and moles for changes.
Fact or fiction…
'Shadow is safe'. Right?
Shade helps, but the harmful influence of UV radiation remains there too. You can also burn in the shade; that is why you should always apply.
'Clouds also protect well'. Right?
Clouds do not stop the harmful UV radiation, so you can get sunburned even on a cloudy summer day. So even if you don't see any sun, just apply!
'It is unnecessary to lubricate every 2 hours'. Right?
Perspiration, friction from clothing and drying can reduce your protection. So apply every 2 hours and don't be too frugal with the sunscreen.
'Factor 30 is nonsense'. Right?
That high factor actually stops the harmful radiation. This way you don't burn and your skin stays nice and young. And yes… even with factor 30 you get tan!
