Spring has officially begun. Although we can't really talk about warm weather yet, it's time to take a critical look at the wardrobe. Also participate because today is April 5, 2020 April skirt day, choose a skirt more often.
Rokjesdag is a term used in the Netherlands for the first warm spring day when many women choose to put on a skirt without pantyhose underneath. This usually happens on a day when the temperature exceeds 20 degrees. The term skirt day itself was actually coined by the columnist Martin Bril. He thought that women had some kind of supernatural power and code. Without making any agreements with each other, women come out en masse on the first fine day with a skirt and bare legs. He found this not only fascinating, but above all indicative of the strong, confident woman.
The columnist died on April 22, 2009 from the effects of esophageal cancer. Exactly one year after his death, dozens of women gathered on Dam Square to pay tribute to Bril. Dressed in a skirt and bare legs of course (even though it was really cold that day). One thing led to another and the term skirt day is now fully established. After all, there is no better feeling to describe spring than with a skirt.
As a woman you always want to look very feminine. What better way to do that than with a dress or a skirt? A skirt is super feminine, especially if you combine it with a pair of nice shoes. Then complete your outfit with the right accessories such as gold jewelry.
The advantage of a skirt is that you can combine it with many tops. In addition to an extensive collection of skirts, the My Jewelery website also offers beautiful sweaters, tops and T-shirts. You can effortlessly combine this with a matching skirt. And although a skirt is the ideal piece of clothing especially in spring and summer, you can also wear it in autumn and winter. Then you can combine the skirt with matching tights or leggings.
There are countless models of skirts, but how do you know which skirt suits your figure? Below you will find the most common models and which skirt suits which figure.
You have four types of figures:apple, pear, hourglass and straight figure
Apple figure
If you have an apple figure, you are blessed with slender, long legs. With an apple figure, the weight is usually around the abdomen. When choosing a skirt, the accent should therefore be on the bottom of your body, your legs. It is therefore preferable to opt for a skirt that hits your knee, whether or not in combination with a nice print. To camouflage your belly, it is also better to choose a skirt with a low waist and a skirt with more volume.
Pear figure
With a pear figure, the emphasis should be on the slender top of the body. To properly accentuate the slim waist and the wide hips and buttocks, it is best to choose an A-line skirt or a skirt without pockets, in a calm color. Combine the whole with a floral top or a blouse with print.
Hourglass figure
This is every woman's dream figure. If you are blessed with this figure, you have a narrow waist that can be seen and emphasized. For an hourglass figure, therefore, opt for a skirt that sits high at the waist. Think of a pencil skirt, an A-line skirt or a maxi skirt. Long skirts are also perfect if you're not too tall yourself, because they make you look taller than you actually are.
Rreal figure
If you have a straight figure, choosing the right clothes is a must. You want to create shapes through your clothes. Tight models are made for you. In any case, avoid wide or straight skirts. A pencil skirt shapes your waist, while a skirt with ruffles or layers also adds more volume. If you have a straight figure and nice legs, you can opt for a knee-length skirt.

Nevertheless, I would like to call on everyone to wear a skirt on April 5, skirt day. Post a (sunny) photo of you in your skirt on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #rokjesdag. Let's break out of our everyday grind in this way. You can be seen, even if you have to work from home.
