Brown-eyed women are pretty lucky since they can afford to wear any color they want. Brown is the result of mixing the three primary colors, so there is no complementary or opposite color on the color wheel that corresponds to it. This leaves room for a multitude of possible eyeshadow choices.
However, depending on the brown color of your iris, there are still certain shades that can intensify your look more than others.
To be able to choose these shades as well as possible, it is important to first determine which family of browns your eye belongs to:amber, hazelnut, brown or dark brown. For this, it is often enough to rely on the bursts of color found in the iris.
For the rest, I invite you to read my article which, I hope, will give you some useful indications in choosing the shades of your favorite colors.
Also called “wolf eyes”, since it is a very light brown with a strong golden/yellow underlying tint. This eye color is quite rare. Sometimes light brown eyes with light orange flashes are also related to amber eyes.
purple is the ideal color to bring out an amber eye since it is its direct opposite in the chromatic circle.
Since the amber eye is very light, I suggest you go with medium to light shades (unless of course if you like very dark smoky or you have decided to play the remake of the film "wolf" for an evening costume).
If your eyes are light golden brown, go for a mauve or lilac purple (light pink is great too). To bring out the golden sparkles, choose iridescent ones. Combine them, for example, with a pretty plum or purple blush in the crease of the eyelid and the outer corner of the eye.
If your eyes are light brown with light orange highlights, opt for slightly bluish purples instead (which will bring out the orange in your eyes). For example, choose a parma violet or iridescent lavender. Pair it with an indigo or a bold purple. Degrade the good for a softer effect.
Dark purple (or even blue for the more adventurous) is of course not excluded. But in order not to harden the look too much, prefer it flush with the eyelashes.
The "Marc Jacobs" purple palette offers a lovely range of purples with different intensities and shades. Perfect for all kinds of combinations. For smaller budgets, the purple palette from "elf" is really great for light brown eyes with orange sparkles
.
To intensify the golden or light orange sparkles of your amber eyes, choose shadows from the same family as them. For more sparkles choose iridescent ones.
Gold, bronze and copper eyeshadows are therefore ideal and can be combined with a multitude of other eyeshadows. Gold and brown, bronze and khaki, copper and chocolate brown to name a few examples.
Bobby Brown's "bronze shimmer brick compact" palette. The extra dimension eyeshadow, Amorous Alloy from M.A.C or the copper color tattoo cream eyeshadow from Maybelline (it is also available in bronze).
As mentioned above, golden-green, bronze (green) or khaki are wonderful colors to intensify amber eyes. Iridescent and / or medium intensity, they will bring out the golden sparkles of these eyes beautifully.
For example, try a lash line with a deep bronze pencil. Or pair khaki with a beautiful gold. Dark green is not excluded but preferably sparingly so as not to harden the look.

Orange is I think one of the trendiest colors to bring out brown eyes. And amber eyes are no exception.
Do not hesitate in this case to explore the whole range of oranges:salmon, peach, apricot, even going as far as rust and orange-brown. Pair them with gold, golden beige or golden peach. The result is great.
The "Sweet Peach" palette from Too Faced. You will find there as many warm brown shadows as peach or golden beige.
It is a brown mixed with green. The circumference of the pupil is often brown then it degrades into green. Although green is predominant, it can sometimes contain small golden chips in places!
One of the surest ways to bring out hazel eyes is to play with shades opposite green. Purple (which is often easier to wear than red) is therefore the ideal color for this. The hazel eye can afford all the intensities of purple. As for the heat, I would say that a "warm" purple (lilac or plum type) or neutral (taupe) are to be preferred to a too bluish purple.
Iridescent or metallic, these shades will bring out your hazel eyes perfectly.
When the gold will bring out the small shards and awaken the look, the bronze will intensify it and give it depth. Paired with chocolate brown or khaki green, this look is all the rage.
And more particularly the copper which draws towards the red. Red being the exact opposite of green in the chromatic circle, coppers and red coppers are ideal to intensify the look and are a good alternative to the traditional smoky. Associated with a deep brown and matte, the combo matches perfectly.
Of course, all shades of brown are possible. But preferably choose warm or neutral colors such as beige, chocolate or golden mocca, to bring out the gold sparkles in the eyes. You can also opt for orange, red or purplish browns. These will intensify and bring out the green of the eyes.
Obsessions eyeshadow palette from "Huda beauty". This Palette is ideal since it contains several shades of warm, neutral and even purplish browns.
These often have an orange underlying color or dark amber flashes. It is the eyes that can wear the most varieties of shades of the same color.
As you may have noticed, this color keeps coming back regardless of the underlying shade of brown in your eye. When it comes to brown eyes, the variety of shades is endless. Your eyes will be enhanced with an icy mauve combined with a taupe, as well as with a golden pink and a purple or even a slightly electric purple or even blue for the more daring. The choice is endless.
(at this stage, take care with the color of your skin. Too dark a purple on very fair skin will harden the features and the eyes, while too pastel a purple on matte skin will dull your eyes)
MAC eyeshadows, for example, offer a wide variety of different purples. Do not hesitate to stop by to choose your combo.
Another beautiful color to decline to bring out the brown eyes. Whether it is a golden green, a deep bronze, a khaki green, even a forest green, this color will always bring out marvelously brown eyes, since it brings out the dark amber sparkles of the iris.
MAC "Hmid" and "Somptuous Olive" shadows.
This is THE trendy color to bring out brown eyes. And for good reason, this color wonderfully brings out and intensifies the orange flashes of all brown irises.
Whether it's a peach associated with a golden beige, an apricot applied in a total monochrome look, a deep orange with an iridescent copper or downright a very intense orange-brown, no make-up faux pas with this color. However, be sure to degrade the material well to create a halo of color; and counterbalanced that with a good coat of mascara. Sublime!
The "Nyx Full Throttle" palette is ideal for creating delicate orange looks.
They often resemble black eyes. Yet it is indeed a very dark brown with an underlying garnet-red hue. This iris is beautiful with colors of the same intensity. That's why be careful not to choose too pastel colors that will make your look dull. If you still choose lighter colors, choose the iridescent or metallic ones.
Once again purple is a safe bet also for dark brown eyes. However, be sure to choose medium to dark shades, such as eggplant, plum, taupe or even electric purple. If you want to make a more marked gradient and therefore use more contrasting colors, be sure to choose only iridescent or metallic shades. Without it, the look would appear dull.
Nyx Cosmetics eyeshadow palette – Velvet Rope offers a beautiful palette of medium to dark purples. Perfect for dark brown eyes.
Whether it's a navy blue or a more sparkling blue, this color is absolutely superb on dark brown eyes. Those for whom blue would be a bit intimidating, don't hesitate to take it step by step, perhaps starting with a touch of blue, such as a lash line or an eyeliner. Sublime result guaranteed.
Sleek bad girl eyeshadow palette.
This is THE palette to have for dark brown eyes!
Just like blue, green is a color that works great too. Choose it in medium to dark shades (especially if your skin is dark) such as emerald green or forest green. However, be sure to degrade it with softer colors so as not to harden the look too much. Excellent alternative to smoky.
dark gray is a nice alternative to smoky black to achieve a smoky effect without overly hardening the look. Combine it with a metallic gray, which you will apply on the mobile eyelid, to bring light.
The gray palette from Charlotte Tilbury and that from Tom Ford
warm dark browns bring out the red side of the iris and intensify the dark brown eye wonderfully. In this case, several combinations are possible:reddish brown associated with black, a beautiful burgundy associated with a purplish brown in the lash line or the famous golden-chocolate brown combination which is clearly a safe bet for all brown eyes.

In short, with brown eyes anything is possible. Pay attention to the flashes of color in your eyes. Choose opposite colors to bring out these bursts or choose colors close to the color of the iris to intensify your look. For daytime make-up choose soft colors if you have fair skin and more intense colors if you have matte or black skin. For evening makeup, dare more extravagant shades, bring out your touch of madness!
And above all, always choose iridescent colors (combined with a matte eyeshadow) to make your eyes sparkle!
