Makeup for blue eyes:how to find the right shade to highlight them

Just like those with green eyes, blue-eyed women are a minority. Yet they too are not outdone when it comes to the multitude of eyeshadows and shades offered in stores, often in palettes each more beautiful than the next. It's true, isn't it great not to have just buy the "special blue eyes" palette without wasting a lot of time choosing one by one the colors that will highlight your peepers?

Yet have you ever noticed that it is rare that we use all the colors of our palette? Beyond individual tastes and preferences, one of the explanations might be that the term “special blue eye palette” is a little too general. What about the intensity of the blue in your eyes? Are they clear blue or deep blue? Are they more blue-gray or blue-green? And the complexion in all this? Do you have milky skin or a tanned complexion?

All this, if you take it into consideration, will give you precious indications on the choice of your eyeshadows. So you will no longer have to buy a pallet of which you will not use half.

Here is some information that can help you in your quest for the perfect shade.

If your eyes are deep blue:

Light and golden complexion:

If your complexion is fair and golden, like that of Reese Witherspoon or Taylor Swift, then warm and soft colors are best for you. Coppery gold, golden peach, camel brown, golden beige, coral, apricot… are perfect colors for you.

Darker colors such as chocolate brown or even black are not to be avoided. However, use them sparingly and keep them as close as possible to the lashline to structure the look without hardening it.

For evening make-up, dare to use more metallic colors such as gold or metallic copper. You can also allow yourself to have a more smoky look by raising the dark color beyond the lash line, for a nice smoky effect guaranteed.

Shopping:

If you are redhead then warm colors are also ideal for daytime makeup. These colors go in perfect harmony with your fair skin (often with freckles) and the warm color of your hair.

For an evening make-up, you can hem your look with a black kohl or try a smoky chocolate brown.

Matte and golden complexion:

-If your skin is matte and golden then you can afford to choose warm but darker shadows, which will go better with your tanned skin tone.

Shopping:

These three eyeshadows (all of which have a golden or coppery undertone) are a little more intense than those for fair skin, but they will look very natural on your skin.

Cold and clear complexion:

If, on the other hand, your skin is milky and therefore your complexion cold like Kate Blanchett, then it is cold colors such as old rose, icy pink, mauve, plum, taupe, cold brown, silver or gray that ' you have to choose.

-For evening make-up, dare anthracite grey, aubergine or even electric blue. Contrary to popular belief, this shade associated with medium or light blue eyes gives a rock and modern side (especially avoid a blue of the same color as your eyes).

Cold and matte complexion:

If your complexion is matte and cold then cold colors of medium intensities such as taupe, cold brown, anthracite gray, powder pink, plum, eggplant are your best friends.

Like the sublime Aishwarya Rai, a smoky silver-grey with pink undertones would be sublime for an evening.

Shopping:

If your eyes are light blue, light gray or light blue-green:

With such clear eyes it is important to contrast the look. Colors that are too dark all over the eyelid can harden the look, while colors of only the same intensity can make the look look tired. The ideal would be to opt for a medium intensity eyeshadow and define the look with a darker lashline.

DON’T

DO

For a natural make-up, pay attention to the color of your skin. If you are blonde with golden undertones and golden skin like Cameron Diaz, then warm shades of light to medium intensity are to be preferred.

If you have light gray eyes, opt for a golden pink (all that glitter-MAC), while if your eyes are light blue, a more orange shade (like the arena-MAC eyeshadow) will be more suitable. And finally, if you want to bring out the green in your light blue-green eyes, choose shades with a hint of red (such as swiss choclate – MAC).

If, on the contrary, your skin is milky, neutral or cold colors of light to medium intensity will suit you better. If your eyes are light gray, for example, opt for an icy pink or cold gray brown eyeshadow (jest or omega – MAC). For light blue eyes, neutral brown can be a good idea. The slightly present orange of the brown can bring out the blue without upsetting the harmony with the complexion (wedge -MAC). And finally if you have light blue-green eyes, choose for example a mauve or a purplish brown (MAC sketch). The red present in these shades will be in perfect balance with the blue-green color.

Of course, don't forget to structure your look with a darker lash line if you opt for a very light eyeshadow.

If your eyes are blue or dark gray:

Always in the spirit of contrast, blue or dark gray eyes are highlighted by lighter shades (while keeping a darker lash line and a coat of mascara to structure the look of course)

Eyeshadows such as plum, light pink, silver, iridescent beige, grey-beige, champagne, lavender, bronze (cold) are ideal for women with cold complexions like Nathalie Imbruglia.

For an evening make-up, a smoky in cool gray or brown tones is a good idea. However, be sure to degrade your colors well so that they do not appear too intense either. Otherwise your look would be lost (see photo above; O)) For a more rock look, swap black for a rush of midnight blue lashes (metallic is even better). The result is stunning.

If your complexion is rather golden, then copper gold, camel, beige, rose gold, peach or coral are shades for you.
