Many women undergo cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance and boost their self-confidence. Social media may have something to do with the increase in popularity, as more and more plastic surgeons are using social media to show pictures of patients before and after treatment. Here are five tips if you are considering a cosmetic procedure.
1. Do your homework. Look for a surgeon who is a member of the Dutch Society for Plastic Surgery. These doctors undergo years of specialist training, each surgeon is inspected every five years and they undergo further training.
2. Examine the surgeon's work. Look for "before and after photos" with multiple angles from all sides. The photos should be consistent in the same light and background. This will help you see the consistency of their work.
3. Read the online reviews. Many good reviews are a strong indicator that the majority of patients were satisfied with their results. Of course there may be one or two dissatisfied patients.
4. Meet your surgeon. When you meet a potential surgeon, talk to him or her about your goals. He/she should have a plan and formulate it in a way that you understand. The patient and surgeon must be in agreement about the procedure.
5. Be healthy. Make sure you eat and live healthy so that, for example, you do not have heart disease and high blood pressure, which can be a risk factor during surgery.
