You already feel it when you just wake up and when you look in the mirror, you are shocked and you get a confirmation:a swollen face. Why is it and what can you do about it?
There are several reasons why you can wake up with a swollen face. It can be due to pressure from the position in which you slept, a (mild) allergy or because you have drunk alcohol.
Throw a splash of cold water on your face or cool with a compress. Make sure you drink enough water and exercise. You can gently massage your face. Are your eyes especially puffy? Use our tips against puffy eyes.

A swollen face can be a symptom of an infection or a condition (Hashimoto's, edema, (dental) abscess, erysipelas, insect bite). Mild allergic reactions can go away fairly quickly, but in the case of a more severe allergic reaction, immediate medical attention may be required.
If you are not sure about the swelling in your face, consult your doctor.
