The cause of a bitchy resting face has been discovered and you can test if you have one.
What is a bitchy resting face? Are you regularly told that you look arrogant or angry, when you thought you looked neutral, or maybe even had a friendly smile? How was the bitchy resting face exposed?
Researchers analyzed photos using a program that recognizes facial expressions based on a database of 10,000 photos. Most people score about 97 percent on the "neutral" score when they look neutral. What causes a bitchy resting face? Next, photos were analyzed of people known for their bitchy resting faces. Their facial expression appeared to score a lower percentage for 'neutral'. The emotion on which they scored higher was contempt. How does the software see that? They are very small signals:one side of the lip that twitches a little, eyes that squint slightly…
Do you have a bitchy resting face? Take the test
Upload a photo of your face in 'neutral' in the Project Oxford tool. This is not the program the researchers used, but it is comparable. The tool calculates the emotions that are visible in your face. Do you score less than 97 percent on neutral and extra high on 'contempt'? Then you probably have a bitchy resting face.
