This year - as it looks now - we are going to make a lot of meters on the engine. We are staying at home during the summer holidays because of the relocation and renovation of our new house. In order to find the necessary relaxation, Frank and I agreed to ride a motorcycle very regularly. And recently Lotte also called out 'Mom, when can I come along?' That is why I am now delving into motorcycle clothing for the kids and of course I also secretly take a look at the ladies collection of motorcycle clothing. Because I really like that leather jacket I have, but in the middle of summer I'm afraid I'll break out in a sweat when I put it on 😉 .
Last year we got our motorcycle license in November and then we were able to take a few quick rides in the cold before winter set in. In the winter we didn't really touch the engines. Because of the weather, but also because we are not insured in the winter season. At least that was the case last year. This year we are going to do things differently, because in January and February we could have made quite a few nice rides on the motorcycle.
In those seasons it is important to pack yourself firmly. That is why we only have motorcycle clothing that keeps the cold out. Thick gloves, leather jackets and sturdy boots. In these months I also wore nice ski sweaters under my cool jacket!
Now we started riding motorcycles again in March and I have to tell you… that was quite exciting again. I think then. Frank wasn't bothered by it and he quickly went away again, but I really had to get used to it again. Doesn't matter, everything at ease I think. I absolutely don't let myself be rushed, except for a bit through the choke 😉 .
Because even though it still looks great and gets tired quickly, my Harley is an 'oldie'. Not an old-timer yet, but an engine with a choke. This means that when the engine is cold, it must be started with the choke. And the choke must also remain open during the first kilometers while driving so that it does not stall.
And therein lies the finesse that I have to get my hands on again after a few months. Starting and driving away is not the problem, but going through a bend or roundabout in those first kilometers is not really nice. After all, I don't want to go through the bend too fast, but the choke gives my engine extra power, so that going slowly through the bend is not always easy. It works, but like I said, it takes some practice. He either goes too fast so that I don't make my turn beautiful, or I feel that he is starting to 'stutter'.
Anyway, we have now completed the first rides and I can say that I am slowly getting used to it again. And that means I feel like shopping again 😉 . Because if you thought that just shopping for clothes is fun, then you have certainly never ridden a motorcycle! Man there are a lot of nice things to get. In addition, it is also nice to adjust the clothing a bit to the season.
