Just like in the field of beauty and fashion, skincare also has many trends. For example, nowadays we massively prefer products with natural ingredients and we learned last year that some products should be kept dark and in glass (hello collection of fashionable pipette bottles on the washbasin). NIVEA lists the biggest skincare trends for 2022.
We see more and more recognizable people in advertisements and media. Think, for example, of models with pigmentation spots or acne on the face. Skin conditions that so many people have to deal with, but which we hardly saw in commercial expressions until recently. Showing all skin types is completely from now and here to stay.
Back to normal actually also applies within the production of beauty products. Where natural ingredients were already on the rise, that line is now being continued. It's not just natural ingredients:the packaging of many skincare products is also made more sustainable. More and more we see beauty bars instead of bottles, refillable packaging and packaging made from recycled materials.
And don't think about jars and bottles in a cool color with your own name on it. In 2021, customization has taken on a completely different meaning. Customized skincare means:no longer a splash of water in your face and go, but a balanced step-by-step plan that gives your skin exactly what it needs. Dry, oily or sensitive skin. Cleanser, toner, exfoliant, serum, moisturizer and so on (oh, and don't forget your SPF!). Based on a short questionnaire, it is often possible to determine exactly what your skin needs. The great thing about this tailor-made skincare routine is that active substances are processed in separate products, so that you can tackle specific problems in a very targeted way.
While retinol (vitamin A) is now fairly well established in the bathroom, a new anti-age miracle drug is eager to make an entrance to the general public, namely the plant-based alternative bakuchiol. The skin-rejuvenating powerhouse is rapidly gaining popularity. And that's not crazy. While retinol can irritate or dry out the skin, bakuchiol is a better option for those with sensitive skin. It firms the skin, refines the skin texture and ensures a more even skin tone. Fine lines and wrinkles give way to beautiful, smooth and even skin – without botox and needles! Do we need to say more?
