Calling yourself fat doesn't benefit your self-image, but did you know that calling yourself old has just as much impact?
Calling yourself old makes you dissatisfied with your body. Dissatisfaction with your body manifests itself in a greater chance of eating disorders, anxiety disorders and depression.
Why are we doing it?
In a world that -to be honest- is very focused on being and staying young, it is actually not at all strange that we call ourselves old when we see a new wrinkle or a gray tuft of hair.
Bad
Calling yourself old isn't necessarily bad. But often we secretly mean indirectly that being young is 'better'. So the next time you catch yourself calling yourself old, make it clear to yourself that you aren't.
Striking
Women aged 46 and older are the most likely to call themselves old. But did you know that even nearly half of women between the ages of 18 and 29 confessed to calling themselves old from time to time? It is a problem among all ages.
Challenge
The challenge is to stop calling yourself old, because it doesn't do anything good for your self-image. It won't be easy. Precisely because you have no influence on aging, it is easy to complain about it.
We confess that we are also very occasionally guilty of it, but hereby we resolve not to do it anymore.
Do you ever call yourself old?
