It's already around the door:Black Saturday, the day that the Netherlands goes on holiday en masse. Research agency Synovate therefore asked five hundred Dutch people why and where they go on holiday and what they always take in their suitcase.
First remarkable result:a quarter of the Dutch people do not go on holiday at all! They think it's fine in our country and just take it easy at home † Very different from the other 25 percent of the Dutch who indicate that they go abroad four times or more a year.
Relaxation
What does match is the reason for the holiday. That is, very logically, relaxation. That is why one in five holidaymakers opts for a beach holiday † It is striking that most people even prefer relaxation over being together with their travel partner(s) and enjoying nature. What do they like to do then? Reading books, listening to music, doing puzzles and watching DVDs especially high. It is therefore not surprising that the books (especially thrillers and chicklits ) and magazine packages are not available around this time.
Then the destination. This year, most Dutch people opt for a holiday in Europe where they can go by car.
Mispoint: bad weather on holiday can seriously spoil the fun. This holiday frustration is at the top of the list of annoyances from the Bol.com holiday survey.
Below the complete top-5:
1. Bad weather;
2. Pushy salespeople;
3. Disappointing residence address;
4. Too touristic location;
5. Being deposed.
